With bets on the colour of the Queen's hat favouring blue, the monarch surprised us all, and arrived in purple, teaming a floral dress with a matching dress coat and hat.

The Queen enjoys nothing more than a day out at the races, and doesn't just watch proceedings from her royal box. Yesterday the monarch was spotted out and about in the paddocks, inspecting the horses before the racing took place.

 The Queen
It wasn't just any old Ladies' Day at Royal Ascot for the Queen - she became the first monarch ever to have a winning horse during the famous Gold Cup race. The monarch - who was spotted smiling and clapping as her horse crossed the line first - looked positively delighted to be presented with a trophy, to celebrate the the triumph of horse Estimate.

 Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie
Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie were also in attendance on day three of the racing festival. While Beatrice chose a navy dress with statement neck, Eugenie brightened up the royal party in a pretty, turquoise dress and contrasting cream jacket.

Princess Beatrice looked deep in coversation as she made her way through the Royal Enclosure.

Adding an injection of colour to proceedings, the Queen dressed for summer in a printed dress, mint green coat and matching pink hat. Lovely.

Princess Anne was also spotted out and about in the Royal Enclosure, sizing up the day's steeds with the help of racing experts.

Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly
Peter Phillips and wife Autumn joined the royal party for Ladies' Day at Royal Ascot, even bagging a seat in the Queen's carriage to the racecourse.
